Impeachment information
"Otis Dog" wanted me to share this with the rest of you who care about our country, who know the truth about events matter, and who believe holding the guilty accountable is a necessary step to safeguarding our democracy.
Read, learn, act. That's what it's all about.

Dear Reader,
Consider the following: "Any employee who lies to their employer should be fired!"
Sounds like a truism, right? Hardly worth discussing. But have you considered that this truism applies to government officials?
That idea, that public officials should be accountable to the people, is the very essence of our American Democracy. It is the very foundation on which the entire Constitution, and the nation, stands.
The quote above, written by someone in Mountain Home, Arkansas, came from:
http://www.usalone.com/cgi-bin/transparency.cgi?paper=1&qnum=pet45
It's a list of the 25 most recent comments made by real Americans participating in an online poll/letter-writing campaign concerning the impeachment charges filed against Vice President Cheney. The full text of the charges is available at the participation page:

I'd like to ask two things of you:
1) Participate in the poll yourself. Every voice added increases the power of every voice that came before, and every voice that comes after. Participants have the option of having their comments sent to their senator, congressmen, and local newspaper editors. Make some noise!
2) Spread the word. If anyone else has gotten in touch with you, let them know about it. Blog about it, digg it, broadcast it, podcast it, leave messages on Craigslist, on forums, use A28 chatter, send emails like this, tell people about it, etc.
Over 25,000 Americans have already participated, and opinion is running an incredible 99% in favor of impeachment. The average member of Congress has now received over 60 messages from this effort... the average senator over 500! Keep the momentum going -- keep the comments flooding into DC and newspapers around the country. How long until this story becomes "newsworthy"?
I've read many of the comments that have been added over the past few days. Some of them are profound in their simplicity, like the one that I presented at the start of this letter. Many are more eloquent, and include specific evidence of the VP's high crimes. Many come from Republicans, who are as sick of this administration as you are. All of them are heartfelt.
What do you think about this critical issue? How do you feel about what's happening to our country? How do you expect anything to be done about it unless you make those thoughts and feelings known?
Many people think that the Democratic leadership is willing to go ahead with impeachment if it can be shown that the people demand it. Are you willing to give them your support?
I'll end this letter with another quote, this one from a citizen in Green Cove Springs, FL:
"This nation was founded over 200 years ago on the premise that none are above the law, on the premise that the loyalty of all elected officials shall be to the Constitution, and to no one man or party. VP Cheney has made a mockery of his oath of office by repeatedly circumventing and denigrating our Constitution, and as such is guilty of a full-scale assault on the American form of democracy that our forefathers sacrificed so much to provide us. We cannot stand for such an anti-American and undemocratic man in this office any longer. The Constitution demands impeachment. I demand impeachment."
Sincerely,
--Otis

On what possible charges would the Vice President be impeached?
On these charges.
Thank you for getting back to my question so promptly and accurately.
No problem. I was happy you asked. As you will see - I made the articles a full-on post yesterday because after a little poking around, I saw how little coverage there was of the charges!
